interstellar has my favorite portrayal of robots in any media ever.

the way their design is neither anthropomorphic or alien, neither cute or scary. the way they're just there, helping humans, being important (or even essential) to the mission but never the spotlight. they care about the crew but are not sycophantic (they don't trust dr. mann).

on my first watch i was kind of expecting them to betray humans at some point and i'm glad they didn't go for that type of story.

TARS and CASE are some middle thing between dogs and angels, quietly accompanying humans and being there for them in their journey to the next evolutionary stage.
