regarding neocities, nekoweb and the like

i think it's awesome that they exist and i hope they continue to exist and be used for a long time. spending hours finding random sites (and hoarding their buttons) is one of my favorite pastimes.

so many sites that haven't been updated since 2021-2022! that's super sad and we need another wave of popularity to hit.

it's cool that both neocities and nekoweb's benevolent dictators (kyle drake and dimden respectively) pretty much just keep to themselves and allow people to do whatever as long as the content is legal. thinking about it the less you know about a platform's owner the higher the quality of the platform it seems.

there was some drama with a certain "yesterweb" group but it seems to be over now. it was covered by suboptimalism here.
