magic [the gathering] was a big part of my teen years and my early 20s.
had some cards as a kid but it was in high school that some classmates introduced me back to the game and i was quickly drawn in by the rules that were satisfying compared to other card games. especially the concept of the "stack". maybe for the programmer brain? idk
magic became a sort of glue for our group keeping us together even long after the end of school. it was mostly an excuse to catch up while playing some matches and eating pizza. preferably not at the same time.
we played a lot of modern and at some point switched to basically only casual EDH. that went on for a while until WotC started printing new cards at the speed of light and we got fatigue from it. from that point we started alternating EDH with a custom cube in which we added cards via a voting system.
my favorite card is blood moon.
